A trip to the Leaning obelisk

Ever since 2009, the Leaning obelisk has been perched on Dubeč, near Nepomuk. It is located in a forest and it reflects the sky and surrounding trees. It symbolizes a downfall of the american military bomber Liberator B24J and commemorates the events from February 22, 1944.

You can walk to the monument from Nepomuk. You park for free in Augustin Nemejc Square and follow the Educational Trail around Green Mountain to the village square in Klášter. Continue past the church straight across the street. The road will already lead to the ascent of Dubeč. There is minimal traffic on the route and you will find enchanting views of the landscape and panorama of Klášter with Green Mountain. The distance from Nepomuk to Dubeč is 5 km.

You can reach the obelisk by car and use a parking spot next to the monument.

From the memorial you can go see the rock formation Stone. Interestingly, an Eneolithic settlement (the Great stone) was found here, proof of The Hamish culture that was declared a cultural monument in 1958.
